Underrated is the seventh studio album by American hip hop recording artist Bow Wow, set to be released through Universal Republic Records and Cash Money Records on 2012. He has already Collaborated with Rick Ross, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Talib Kweli, Chris Brown, Cee-Lo Green, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, Busta Rhymes and Ace Hood. Collaborators include Snoop Dogg, Birdman, Sean Kingston, Jadakiss, Lloyd Banks, Musiq Soulchild, Machine Gun Kelly, Boyz II Men, DJ Khaled, T.I., Fabolous, Nelly, Game and many more.[1][2]
The album was untitled until December 2010 when Bow Wow was interviewed at Hot 106’s Holiday Hot Night. During the interview, Bow Wow added that the record's first single would be produced by Boi-1da, although this proved to be false when "Sweat" was released as the album's first official single.[3]
Singles
The album's lead single is "Sweat", which features rapper Lil Wayne. It was produced by Noel "Detail" Fisher and co-produced by Bei Maejor. The song was released on the Internet on October 13, 2011 and digitally on October 24, 2011.[4] The single debuted on number 48 on Billboard Hot 100. According to Bow Wow, the video for "Sweat" refers to his transition to Young Money Cash Money.[5] The track nearly failed to gain approval from Young Money president Mack Maine because Bow Wow and Lil Wayne had already produced recordings together, however, Noel "Detail" Fisher's production work was sufficient to persuade Maine to allow the track to go forward.[6]. Next single would be a song with Busta Rhymes entitled "Must Be Stupid" or a song with Ace Hood entitled "We Going Hard".
Delays
The album has undergone several changes in its projected release date since it was first announced with a tentative 2010 release date when Bow Wow signed to Cash Money in 2009.[7] Bow Wow indicated in July 2011, that the record would be released on November 1st, 2011, but he was subsequently forced to push the album back to December 6th in order to clear sample material used on several of the record's tracks.[8] Bow Wow was forced to push the album back to an unspecified date in 2012 during mid-November 2011 because his touring schedule made it difficult to complete the record.[9][10]
